ABOUT SIBERIAN CATS

• Their hypo-allergenic quality

  The majority of cat allergies are not caused by the fur, but by a protein   secreted by a cat's sebaceous glands.

  The specific cat allergen is the glycoprotein  Fel d 1, spreaded by saliva across the fur, dries and floats throughout the environment;  inhaled it is responsible for the allergic responses.

  The Siberian produces lower levels of Fel D1  than other domestic feline breeds; (and therefore, provokes less allergic reactions).

  The  Siberian can be said to have hypo-allergenic qualities (having a decreased tendency to provoke an allergic reaction).
